Carver Celebration 2010 in Review
Carver Celebration is our largest fundraising event, with events and activities from all aspects of Carver Center. Celebration 2010 began with exceptional food prepared by our culinary students working side by side with top chefs including Chef Matthew D. McKenna from the Cheesecake Factory, Executive Chef Thomas Brown of Greystone Grill, Chef’s Halbadel and Bechera from the Lebanese Taverna, Executive Chef Nancy Longo from Pierpoint, Executive Chef Billy Crouse of Sotto Sopra, Owner Brett Bond from Taste Event Catering, Executive Chef Tom Schwarzweller from Wegmans, and Carver Center 's own science teacher Aaron Joseph. Concurrently, there was a silent auction of items donated by businesses and friends of Carver Center and a silent art auction featuring artwork donated by student, alumni, and faculty, and pie cabinets created by carpentry.Throughout the evening there were student exhibitions featuring sculpting and portraiture demonstrations in the lobby, song, dance, poetry reading, and acting performances in our theatre, and poetry reading, song, and live music performed in the coffee house. Attendees participated in line dances with members of our dance and theatre primes in the dance studio, constructed saw horses with carpentry, challenged themselves with games like Memory, Family Feud, and How Well Do You Know Carver Center Students and saw the Mosaic Maker in the IT game room, and enjoyed paraffin hot wax treatments in cosmetology! Engineering club members displayed their Kinetic Sculpture outside the clubroom, and demonstrated capabilities of the Vex robots in the clubroom, where culinary student dessert creations were showcased and enjoyed. To assist in getting around school, there were even Kiosks provided by IT with event schedules and maps to guide visitors to the various locations. What an extravaganza!
